Make yourself at home…
In late 2020, English multi-instrumentalist, composer and songwriter Tim Walker (AKA “T.A. Walker”) was considering his next “musical move”. He had just released a collection of loop-based and ambient guitar pieces, but felt his “folky” side resurfacing after some years dozing under a verdant field somewhere.
After listening a fair bit to largely American “alternative/indie-folk” artists like Iron & Wine, Sufjan Stevens, Hiss Golden Messenger and Elliott Smith, Tim felt he liked the sound and (for want of a better term) attitude of these artists. However, he also wanted to inject something of an English-folk flavour—inspired by the likes of Nick Drake, Steeleye Span, Fairport Convention and Gravenhurst—to the songs he intended to produce.
Furthermore, Tim was wary that some listeners might find “ambient space-guitar” and “English-tinged alt-folk” a bit too much of a breed apart… and inspired by the likes of Sam Beam (Iron & Wine), felt it was time to adopt a “pseudonymity cloak” to this new project.
So… “Mannerbourne” it is. This particular house is still under renovation, and we’ll open wings of the place once we’ve found out there isn’t a wasps’ nest the size of a Mini in any of them. In the meantime: hope you enjoy the first album, and keep an eye on the blog while you’re listening. Tim will start posting the odd bit there shortly…
